Two Months

I got a little emotional last week when it was time to pack away most of Kate's newborn-sized clothes that no longer fit her. The past two months have flown by, and while so much has changed, we cannot imagine our lives without this girl.
Kate had her 2 month-old doctor appointment on Tuesday and appears to be right on track. She stayed in the same percentiles for both her height and weight.
Back in front of her favorite mirror.
Checking out how much she's grown.
Here are her latest stats:

Height: 22.25 inches - 50th percentile (1 inch gain from 4 weeks ago)
Weight: 11 lbs. 8.5 oz. - 50.75 percentile (2 pound 3.5 oz. gain from 4 weeks ago)
Head Circumference: 39 centimeters - 75th percentile (the hair might have something to do with this!)

This was the appointment where Kate got her first big round of vaccines. After hearing how tough they can be on some babies, I prepared myself for a potentially long night. She cried hard right after getting the shots, but then she fell asleep and stayed conked out in my arms for the rest of the afternoon.
She was not happy about what happened to her.
When she woke up, she was definitely more subdued than usual, but she went to bed after a warm bath and in the morning was her normal self (whew!).

At two months old, most people still comment about 1) Kate's impressive head of hair (we are trying to take a lot of pictures because it is getting lighter and thinning out in the back), and 2) how alert Kate is (unless it is the few minutes before she is about to fall asleep, she still demands to be held facing out).

In her one month-old post, I wrote about how Kate disliked mornings the most. That has changed. She now wakes up happy and is all smiles. She really is only impatient when she is hungry (I wonder who she got that from?) and she is settling into more of a routine. During the day she still won't nap unless she is in her stroller on a walk or in my arms, but she makes up for it at night. We are beginning to implement a night-time routine that includes a bath around 8:30 p.m., nursing, and some songs. I put her in her bassinet, that is still placed by my side of our bed, between 9:30 and 10:00 p.m. and she has been sleeping until at least 2:30 a.m. When she wakes up, she eats, gets her diaper changed, and goes right back down for at least another four hours.

We really are loving the new things each day brings... new sounds, new looks, and this week, even new cries.

I'll end this post with our latest pictures of Kate just taken today and the first compilation of the headshots Steve has been taking of Kate every few days since she was born.

Happy 2 Month-Old!
